What sort of information is useful?

When preparing a funeral service I like to know as much as possible about the person who has passed away.  With this in mind, it would be really helpful if you, or another family member, could gather information including:

  • When and where the deceased was born and brought up
  • Names of parents, brothers, sisters, other close family members
  • Memories of childhood – school achievements, sporting ability
  • Partner, children, grandchildren
  • Closest friends and how they met
  • Career – what they did, work-based memories
  • Hobbies – any special memories or achievements relating to these
  • What the deceased enjoyed most in life
  • How they will be best remembered
  • Did they have any specific wishes about their funeral?
  • Would anyone else like to play a part in the service – maybe recite a favourite poem, write their own tribute?
