Usually your Funeral Director will give me your contact details.
I will call you to arrange a meeting at your home (or another venue if you wish), so we can talk about what sort of service you would like.
At the meeting you can tell me about the person who has died, perhaps share some special memories or interesting stories.
We will also talk about whether you want any particular music during the service and whether there are any poems or readings that you would like (I can offer some suggestions).
Even if you don’t want a full religious service, you may want to include some spiritual content – a short prayer, a hymn – it’s up to you to decide and we can discuss this.
You may want family members to play a part in the service and deliver their own personal tribute.
When we have discussed all these details, I will confirm everything to you, write a draft eulogy (if you want me to) which I will then send to you for approval before the service.
I will liaise with the Funeral Director and staff at the crematorium or burial ground to make sure all your requests and wishes are followed.
On the day of the funeral I will be there with you to conduct the service and to help you say that final farewell to your loved one.
After the service I will send you a full copy of the service so you have a permanent memory to keep.
